We are seeking an experienced and compassionate OB/GYN Registered Nurse (RN) with strong Postpartum/Mother Baby experience for a contract opportunity in Washington, DC.
This position is not an L&D role — candidates must have hands-on experience caring for postpartum mothers, newborns, and post-operative GYN patients. The RN will provide safe, patient-centered, and evidence-based care while supporting families through recovery, education, and newborn bonding.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum, post-C-section, and post-GYN surgery patients.
Monitor vital signs, incision sites, and postpartum recovery for both mother and infant.
Educate and support mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postnatal health.
Assess and document patient progress in alignment with facility policies and standards.
Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Uphold Service Excellence standards and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care at all times.
Qualifications
Required Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Licensure:
Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
Experience:
Postpartum/Mother Baby experience required
Minimum 2 years of recent OB/GYN experience preferred
Education:
Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
BSN – Highly desired
