Position: HR Manager

Reports To: Plant Head / Corporate HR Head

Position Overview:

The Manager - HR at the plant level will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all human resources functions to ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing plant. This includes talent acquisition, payroll management, compliance, employee engagement, training and development, as well as fostering a positive and productive work culture. The role demands close collaboration with leadership teams to align HR initiatives with business objectives while ensuring legal compliance and adherence to company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Management:
    • Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support the business objectives.
    • Drive workforce planning to ensure optimal staffing levels for efficient operations.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the Plant Head and department leaders on all HR matters.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll inputs, including attendance, overtime, incentives, and deductions.
    • Coordinate with the finance and corporate HR teams to resolve payroll discrepancies.
    • Ensure adherence to applicable taxation, statutory contributions (PF, ESI, etc.), and reporting requirements.
  • Compliance and Industrial Relations:
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and statutory requirements, including timely filings and audits.
    • Liaise with labor unions (if applicable) and manage collective bargaining agreements.
    • Maintain harmonious industrial relations and mitigate potential disputes.
    • Keep up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure the organization’s policies and practices reflect these updates.
  • Talent Acquisition and Retention:
    • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes to fill critical roles at the plant.
    • Implement effective onboarding programs to integrate new hires seamlessly.
    • Develop strategies for employee retention and career progression.
  • Employee Engagement and Relations:
    • Foster a positive workplace culture through engagement activities and employee feedback mechanisms.
    • Handle grievance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions in a fair and transparent manner.
    • Organize regular employee communication forums to ensure transparency and trust.
  • Learning and Development:
    • Identify training needs and collaborate with functional teams to create and deliver development programs.
    • Monitor training effectiveness and support skill development for operational efficiency.
  • HR Operations and Policies:
    • Oversee HR operations, including attendance systems, payroll inputs, and benefits administration.
    • Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices across the plant.
    • Manage workforce analytics and prepare regular HR reports for leadership review.
  • Health, Safety, and Welfare:
    • Promote a safe working environment and lead initiatives for employee well-being.
    • Collaborate with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) teams to implement safety programs and audits.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: MBA in HR / Master's Degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • 10–15 years of HR experience with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or plant-level role.
    • Proven experience in handling industrial relations, compliance, and payroll management.
    • Strong knowledge of labor laws, statutory compliance, and HR best practices.
