LOCATION: Office Base is London. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £55,000- £64,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

To lead the development and delivery of infrastructure automation and analytics solutions that enhance operational efficiency across BBC platforms. The role focuses on building resilient, scalable systems using modern DevOps practices, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

• Design and implement infrastructure automation workflows using tools like Rundeck, Ansible, and Terraform
• Build and maintain containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes for scalable deployments
• Develop analytics pipelines and reporting dashboards using Python, SQL, and cloud-native services
• Automate patching, compliance checks, and system health monitoring across hybrid environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate operational needs into technical solutions
• Contribute to Agile delivery, code reviews, and continuous integration practices
• Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, recommending improvements to existing platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for automation and analytics
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Hands-on expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Familiarity with Rundeck, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar automation platforms
• Experience with patch management, system hardening, and compliance frameworks (e.g. CIS benchmarks)
• Ability to build and maintain reporting solutions using cloud-native tools (e.g. AWS Lambda, S3, Athena)
• Comfortable working in Agile teams and engaging with stakeholders across technical and business domains
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Proven experience in infrastructure automation using tools like Rundeck, Ansible, or PowerShell
• Strong hands-on skills in containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Advanced Python and SQL skills for building analytics pipelines and automated reporting
• Experience with patching workflows, system compliance, and operational monitoring
• Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging tools to improve platform reliability and efficiency.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Familiarity with BBC tooling such as Splunk, SentinelOne, Confluence, or ServiceNow
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and serverless architecture
• Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
• Understanding of security best practices and audit frameworks
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to open-source automation projects
